pregnancy weight loss after miscarriage | The guilt nobody told me about

pregnancy weight loss after miscarriage

Before LL came along my three year old daughter was my little partner in crime.  Ive been lucky enough that since she was born Ive been able to have a career break from work. This has meant me and my daughter have been pretty much inseparable.  We have done everything together.  The good times of spontaneous picnics, girls shopping trips and farm visits, and (lets not wear rose tinted glasses here) even the not so good times, like when she spilt a whole jug of milk down me in the middle of Marks and Spencer or when she tantrum rolled herself down an aisle in Sainsburys.

Before LL came, in those last few weeks of my pregnancy, I really treasured every moment. I knew things were about to change.  But what nobody told me is how our relationship would change, or the guilt Id feel as my role changed.

In these first few weeks of having LL, my time has been almost entirely consumed with caring for a newborn.  With breastfeeding, changing and caring for this little bundle 24/7. And I guess that is how it should be.  Ive included my eldest in all the things youre meant to, like reading to her whilst Im feeding, including her to help care for LL.  But still, theres been a change.

Its not me she calls for if she needs something now. Its not me she gets into the car and sits nicely for.  Its her Daddy. I feel like Im suddenly second best.

And I know this is good.  My husband tells me its nice to finally be that person for a change, instead of it always being me.  And I know this is completely normal.  But that doesnt stop me feeling guilty when she asks for Daddy when Im stood right next to her.  Or when I tell her to wait a minute for the hundredth time as LL has just been sick everywhere again.

I know I cant do everything.  I know Im not superwoman.  But that doesnt stop me from wanting to be.  I guess I have to adjust to being a mum of two.  I just wish someone had forewarned me of this guilt I feel.

I think the transition from three to four just takes time for us all, I just hope my eldest always knows how much I love her, even if its not just us two girls anymore when Daddy goes to work.  Its something even more special now, its us three girls.  The three musketeers.

post pregnancy diet and weight loss | Merry Christmas!

post pregnancy diet and weight loss

Tirzah Photography

Only 5 days til its Christmas you guys! Ah! My world is a swirly world of lists and to dos as the count down dwindles. We didnt get our xmas cards out until yesterday this year! haha. Today I stopped in the middle of the craziness, against my better judgement and took Káel to a play date with friends at a bouncy house place. I was feeling so bad about having non stop Mickey Mouse and Little Einstein feed going in my house so I could get things done. Poor little boy has been cooped up and needed to let out some energy. :) We had so much fun! He is completely worn out now and Im getting to work!  Tonight Im finishing the last of our presents, stockings and wrappings! Tomorrow is full on cleeeeeean the house day. ;) Didnt I just do that last week?

Merriest of Christmases to you and your family this year loves! I pray you enjoy every moment and are surrounded by more joy than you can handle!

Peace and Love,
Sam, Jess + Forest Káel

baby weight loss teething | Blogmas Christmas Day 2014

baby weight loss teething

Happy Christmas! A very very good morning to you all and a Merry Christmas! I hope you are enjoying your day.  As I sit here and type it is 11pm on Christmas Eve (with blogmas running a day late).  There is still a million and one jobs I need to do...you know when you just dont feel ready? I have a feeling I could stay up all night and still not be ready.  But before I run around like a mad woman and attempt to clean the windows (only joking...or am I?!?), all of that can wait whilst I type my last blog of Blogmas 2014!

Today started with an early morning walk with Pablo T Dog just as the sun was rising.  It was so so quiet and peaceful and the sky looked so pretty.  Do you ever have those weird moments where you just think wow and just feel so so small in the world?? Thats how I felt today. Granted I might have been a little overtired, but it was a lovely walk and I felt all the better for it.

I also ALWAYS walk past this lady who sells the Big Issue and I have never, ever bought a copy. There is this saying, do good, feel good. So after getting home we drove past the lady and me and Baba hopped out to buy a copy from her and wish her a merry Christmas. Baba did proceed to eat the front cover of the magazine in the car (the girl can eat a front cover but looks in disgust if I try and serve her lasagne). Anyway, it felt nice to do that today.

Mr.Bee then dropped me into town and I may or may not have headed straight for the Topshop sale.  Ok, so I did.  Dont judge me. Instead of making gingerbread houses with my daughter and husband I was in the changing rooms debating whether I really needed another blouse (apparently I did!).  I did manage to pick up a few things in the sale and it was quite nice just to have a little wander with nothing really to get.

I then went home and made gingerbread houses.  No, no I didnt.  I am in no way that artistic or crafty.  What we did do is run around screaming its Christmas Eve and then I obviously re-created the Frozen dance and danced to Beyonce!!

Its turned into a little Christmas tradition now that we have all the family round on Christmas Eve.  We do some nibbles, drink lots, eat lots and drink a little more.  Baba ran around like a mad woman and generally caused a bit of chaos.  She is so so excited for the big day tomorrow, and is convinced it will snow!!! Just before she went to bed we placed a carrot out and magic food for the reindeer and a mince pie and glass of milk for Santa with his magic key.  And yes, I know it makes no sense at all that we leave a magic key in the house for Santa, but just go with me here!!!

Our Christmas day tomorrow will be a quiet day, just the three of us and
then we will go to Mr.Bees family for Christmas tea.  Its then Christmas Day take II on Boxing Day as we head to my parents house to celebrate Christmas with them, and I cant wait!

And thats me.  I cant believe I have made it through Blogmas and Im still in one piece!!! I cannot thank you enough for all of the lovely support I have received and thank you to each and every one of you for reading.  Its felt like a bit of steep learning curve and journey blogging every day, but it has been lovely to share my month of December with you all.

I hope you are enjoying today.  And remember, its not meant to all go to plan.  Christmas wouldnt be Christmas without a few hiccups.(Remember me and Paris?!!! You can read that here).  Anyway, just go with the flow. The world wont end tonight.  Believe it or not, there is life after Christmas! Now go and enjoy yourself, of course have another mince pie, and a tad more chocolate too!

I intend to resume my normal blogging schedule next week, but until then, I wish you all a very happy Christmas and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading,

weight lose tips during pregnancy | Its a wrap take two

weight lose tips during pregnancy

As you may or may not know, I am forever messing about with my nails. And whilst my nails have sometimes looked like maybe my dog did them (you can see my failed nail art post here), nothing seems to deter me and my experimentation knows no bounds!

Whilst gone are the days of treating myself to a manicure and pedicure pre-Christmas, I still had some time (!) to try and do something with my nails so I was party season ready.  I had already tried the Ted Baker Nail Wraps before in the shade black floral, and you can read my review on those here along with how to apply them.  I was so pleased after using them last time, I decided to try them again in a different shade for Christmas.

My only grumble with the original black floral shade was that the pattern didnt show up too well on my very short nails.  So this time I chose a different shade (helpfully, there isnt a single mention of the shade on the packaging), I can only describe this shade as black with pretty oriental-style lilies on.  This pattern actually repeated on every single nail wrap and the pattern was evenly spread from the base of the wrap to the top.  This meant that even with my very short nails the pattern could be clearly seen this time.

I applied the wraps on Christmas Day and it took me around 30 minutes to apply the full pack.  This time included time chasing my daughter and stopping her from riding our dog, Pablo.  So all in all not too bad!  I had previously applied a clear top coat varnish to the wraps when I had last applied these, but I didnt this time (I had lost the nail polish...well, my daughter has actually hid it in an extremely good hiding place!). Having said this, the lack of a top coat didnt seem to make any difference to the longevity of the wraps.

These little beauties lasted a full week before I peeled them off, and to be fair I think they could have stayed on a few more days. This is pretty amazing in itself as I am forever washing my hands, forgetting to use washing up gloves and over Christmas week I forget the amount of times I had to tear some toy open from its Alcatraz type encasing. For the cost of £7.50 I cannot recommend these wraps enough.  I cant seem to find them on the Boots website anywhere, so you will need to pop in store to find them, before I bulk buy them all!

Thanks for reading,

pregnancy weight loss obese

Yesterday I did a post on my successful thrifting trip and told you I also found some Holiday goodies! Well, here are a few of my jingle bell treasures! I still havent totally decided how Im going to decorate for Christmas yet, but my new finds are definitely providing me with some vintage inspiration. ;)
Late 50s early 60s tree skirt  25 cents! (I loooove this!)
An old DIY mistletoe, hanging ball from the late 50s  - only 25 cents.
Another DIY ornament from the late 50s, still in the package! Only 60 cents!
I found an old Christmas childrens book to use for Christmas cards, only 60 cents,  as well. Káel decided he wanted to help me while I was trying to take a picture. ;)

yoga for post pregnancy weight loss video | NOTD Barry M Nightshade

yoga for post pregnancy weight loss video

I love a really dark nail and this colour is amazing.  I had tried a Barry M nail paint before and I wasnt that impressed with it, I think it was quite a pale colour and I felt the application was streaky.  But this polish has redeemed my faith in Mr.Barry M and I am in love with this colour.

Its the nail paint in shade 359, Nightshade.  In the bottle it looks a very dark purple/maroon colour and once applied its an even deeper colour, almost black, but not as harsh, as it has got the warmth of the purple/maroon in it.  I got amazing colour and shine from two coats. It dried really quickly and lasted a few days without chipping - I am way too lazy for a top coat so it would probably last longer if you used one.

For only £2.99 this is my favourite purchase this week and I think this colour is gorgeous for Christmas.

Are there any nail colours you would recommend at the moment? Comments below please!

Thanks for reading,

Pregnancy Weight Loss | Sparkles and Christmas Time

Pregnancy Weight Loss

We are spending Christmas at our house this year. Sams side of the family is coming down and so its put me in hostess mode...which you know I love. Did someone say party? Hmmm? Its bittersweet for me though because,  it will also be the first Christmas that I havent been with my folks at all. But, Im trying to count my blessings and be a cheerleader for myself to stay in the holiday spirit. I have to say, this year is my favorite as far as holiday decor goes. I have never been more pleased with my stitchings, and merry crafting! I need and want to take some pictures with my legit camera and do a proper tour, but if for some reason I dont get around to that, I wanted to share my instagram moments with you! :)

No fireplace in our new little home means my lovely piano acts as mantle and music  piece. ;)

That huge role of brown paper from my wedding has been drug out of the closet and put to good, stylish use for wrapping presents this year! yay for sewing paper!

Fresh greens are my faaaaavorite!

Cozy, cozy, cozy! Who wants to come over for hot chocolate!!??

Yes, Im onboard the burlap craze. My mom got me started a couple of years back. I had found a bolt of this green burlap at the thrift store for $3 several months ago. So, I thought Id make some rustic Christmas merriment for my couch! Gold metallic spray paint and cheap stencils from Forest boys birthday....wallah! Pillow wonder. ;)
More of the same burlap, rope twine I already had, same stencils, same paint...a snip, snip here and a few stichings there-bam! Holiday bunting. Can I just keep these decorations up all year long please?

My bargain/thrift obsession never fails me.

Ive had way too many fabulous ideas this season!

Free People inspired stocking project.

My tree skirt is raw burlap and heavy rope from Lowes. (Also from Káels bday party.) Ive probably spent $20 bucks this year on decor. Re-purposed goodness.
I made this ornament when I was up in the mountains with my girlfriends a couple weeks ago. We had an ornament craft sesh that was SO much fun. This is what I came up with. Id like to have some kind of tradition like that every year. Make ornaments with friends. Little memories on our tree. :)

Yeah...Ive mentioned it before, Im kind of obsessed with metallic spray paint. I mean, it makes life so much more fun you guys! Why put a plain jar on my table, when I could have a festive GOLD one that took 2 min. to spray!? I love it.

Those two books to the right of Forest boy have been my main source of color inspiration for my decor this year. An old ivory and gold hymnal along with a green, gold and rope color edition of Robin Hood. Little man has been enjoying all the lanterns I have out. He always brings them to me like hes found a treasure. ;)

Happy Christmas you lovelies! I hope you are enjoying this week before the big sparkly day with as little stress as possible. Im certainly trying to. Its been rough at times, but you know, joy and stress are choices. Im trying to choose joy. As I sign off, I am reminded of the one gazillion things I have left to do. haha.

XOXO
Jess

baby weight loss tips | A failed trip to Mars a white rabbit and a new muse

baby weight loss tips

Hello! How are you? I hope you all have had a lovely, lovely Christmas? And me? Well, its been eventful...there may or may not have been tears...but I will come on to that in a minute. Remember my mission, just before Christmas, as though I was planning a trip to Mars and would never return? You know, I tried to cram everything in, needed to buy everything in sight and see every single relation and friend all before the big day? Well that little plan certainly back fired.  If I had have been on an actual Mars mission, lets just say I would have been kicked out before I had even fastened my seat belt.

The run up to Christmas was hectic to say the least and Christmas Day, surprise surprise, I began to feel ill.  Very achy, like I had been running (but the only actual running I had done was to get another chocolate). This continued, and continued, and this achy body and now a cold has pretty much covered my entire Christmas week (hence a few tears at feeling so rough). But dont feel too sorry for me. It was kinda self inflicted with all the rushing abut I had been doing and it certainly hasnt stopped me enjoying Christmas.  I just havent really felt myself, and I certainly havent evoked any of the glamour I had envisaged for myself over the festive period. I saw Pablo T Dog (our border terrier) visibly do a double take when I emerged like a cave woman from the bedroom the other day!

As the festive season draws to a close, I am beginning to feel better and I thought I would share with you a few snaps of what Ive been up to this last week. We actually had snow in Derbyshire on Boxing day night!!! It was just beautiful!!! We had actually planned a trip to Chatsworth House with my parents in Bakewell, Derbyshire the following day, and we were lucky enough to drive through some of the most breathtaking Derbyshire scenery, heavily laden with freshly fallen snow.

Arriving at Chatsworth House the magic continued as we entered the world of Alice In Wonderland. Every year at Chatsworth they have a theme and the entire ground floor of the grand house is decorated to that theme.  So, down the rabbit hole we went...

to tiny doors and treats...

to meet froggy footmen...

and to a mad hatters tea party...

and a game of croquet.

We had such a lovely afternoon and the attention to detail was amazing. When we got home to Derbyshire the snow was still there and so we took Baba out sledging.  Wait. Who am I kidding? We all went sledging. Heres a picture of me going reallllllllly fast :-)

And have you maybe guessed what my Christmas present was this year?! A camera!!! Anything that moves now gets papped. I am like the walking paparazzi.  My new muse: Pablo T Dog.  He doesnt seem to mind posing for my picture taking. And what a handsome fellow.

And thats been my week.  Now I really much dash as there is still a hell of alot of chocolate that really needs to be eaten before the new year. I hope you enjoy tonights festivities, whatever you are up to.  And please pop back tomorrow as I discuss why you really dont need a brand new you for the new year.

Thanks for reading,
